Alison Harris is a freelance photographer based in Paris. She travels widely to cover stories for top European and American magazines. She also does studio work for food assignments and portraiture. Alison Harris graduated with a degree in Art History from Mount Holyoke College (Massachusetts) and is fluent in French and Italian.
Alison Harris has taken the photographs for international bestsellers such as MARCELLA CUCINA (Marcella Hazan, HarperCollins) and SOPHIA LOREN’S RECIPES AND MEMORIES (Sophia Loren, GT Publishing). She also photographed ENCHANTED LIGURIA: A CELEBRATION OF THE CULTURE, LIFESTYLE AND FOOD OF THE ITALIAN RIVIERA (David Downie, Rizzoli International), THE NEW PROVENCAL CUISINE (Louisa Jones, Chronicle Books), THE GOOD COOK (Anne Willan, Stewart,Tabori and Chang) and the critically acclaimed COOKING THE ROMAN WAY: AUTHENTIC RECIPES FROM THE HOME COOKS AND TRATTORIAS OF ROME (David Downie, HarperCollins). She has photographed a number of books for The Little Bookroom including The PATISSERIES OF PARIS and three TERROIR GUIDES. Her photographs illustrate PARIS, PARIS – JOURNEY INTO THE CITY OF LIGHT.
A selection of Harris’ black- and- white photographs of Paris is in the collection of the Musée Carnavalet (Paris Historical Museum), the Bibliothèque Historique de la Ville de Paris (Paris Historical Library), Osterreichische Nationalbibliothek (Austrian National Library) and Mount Holyoke Colllege Art Museum (Massachusetts). Her work is also in numerous private collections in Europe and the United States, including the Nelson Blitz Collection.
Harris’ work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows in New York, Chicago and Houston as well as in Rome and Paris.
